Injury Report
It's been 100 days since The Accident. I still have no feeling in the tip of my finger. Like, none at all. I'd post a picture, but it just looks like a finger. That wouldn't evoke the overwhelming sense of sympathy I'm shooting for here.
I also have a sinus infection, and haven't missed any work. I'm like one step away from being one of those dudes in 300. Except I'm probably taller, because everyone from history is vertically inept.

I Got Iced on New Year's Eve

wtf
Does that mean my upcoming year is going to involve an abundance of offensively over-sweetened wine coolers? Is that how that works? I think I was asleep by midnight. Also, you're welcome for not posting a picture of me being forced against my will to drink a lukewarm Smirnoff Ice.
Baby Eric, barely two months old, made his partying debut with a fury, though I think I'm more impressed with Dan's ability to rep three sports teams at the same time. I'm not sure what the hat is, but I just assume it's sportsy.

E-Mail Of The Year
Does anyone remember that rap group Quarashi? You know, the Icelandic Beastie Boys or whatever they were billed as (famous for the especially frat party-friendly "Stick 'em Up"). Their guitarist e-mailed me today (he made friends with all of us on Warped in '02).

Is Perry Farrell The New Mayor Of New York?
This is a pretty loose connection for a title - I just heard once that Perry Farrell loves pajamas. Anyway.
A pillow fight in the middle of New York city? This sounds fantastic (be sure to listen to the commentary from some of the participants - particularly the part where the reporter asks his interviewee to strike him with the pillow). Check out video and info on the organizers here.

Kevin Feedback
I recently (actually, it was today) delivered a speech for my "Professional Development for Leaders" class (read: public speaking). I'm a terrible public speaker. For that matter, I'm a terrible private speaker as well. By some miracle, or possibly a voting box mishap, I received "best in room" votes for my speech today. I probably only received one, but it sufficiently stroked my ego, since there were 14 speakers. I'm still a terrible public speaker. Everyone in the audience had to provide feedback, so.... let's hear from the audience:
Pros
"Very persuiasive"
"Passionate"
"Good stories"
"Good intro"
"Good conclusion"
"Good hook"
"No notes! Good job"
Cons
"There wasn't any structure after your intro, so I was not sure on what your point was, but then I figured it out."
"Tentative"
"Stop playing with your hands"
"Monotone"
"Your purpose wasn't clear"
"Eye contact. More eye contact"
"How long is your intro?"
"Needs structure. What's your point?"
"Disorganized."
"Avoid technical difficulties - though not really your fault"
"You sounded nervous."
"Work on your transitions."
"Seemed all over the place."
Oh yeah, I spoke for five minutes on why music downloading is a pox on our society.

Is Bart Simpson The New Mayor Of Tijuana?
Seems like it...
Update!
Nevermind. I think it was a bit of an exaggerated tale, despite NPR mentioning it on this week's Wait Wait... Don't Tell Me! According to the Washington Post:
Tijuana police initially stopped patrols after their guns were taken, saying it was too dangerous, but most later returned to work. In some cases, officers were accompanied by armed state police. Others patrolled in larger numbers than normal. One officer was seen holding a slingshot that he said was for his protection.
Oh well. Sounded fun.

We're Glad He's Gone Photo Of The Day

I was rooting through my hard drive and found this picture from a couple years ago that I ripped off the cover of the Washington Post. To this day, I can't imagine what the context was.

If you buy the LA Times at Starbucks today you don't get the section containing the crossword puzzle. Fair warning for those whose daily 50 cents is allocated mostly for the crossword.
Oh, and the new Blood Brothers record is shockingly good. The video for "Laser Life" isn't so hot, but I really don't know what to expect from music videos anymore.
Alright, and one vaguely-titled link to an amusing news story.... I would have voted for him for president.

Unnecessarily Enthusiastic Speech Of The Day

This really makes Howard Dean look tame, especially since Dean was supposed to be fired up. Steve Ballmer? I'm not so sure. There's a bunch of half-assed remixes on YouTube as well, but you can find those on your own.
ATTN: Peanut Gallery: I know this video isn't exactly new. KTHX.

Ignoring the fact that the complete line is "an all new kind of cool," leaving kind of cool alone on a line is a risky marketing choice.

Crime Update
Leonid Breshnev has returned to my mantel, concluding a brief and mysterious absence. Evidence indicates that he was, in fact, stuffed inside Gorbachev. If that's true, this whole story really just degrades us all.

For the record, I have absolutely noticed this phenomenon on my iPod and in iTunes, although I don't seem to have quite the same problem with Steely Dan.

From ESPN:
BILOXI, Miss. -- Yet another newborn has been named ESPN.Penn Jillette's kids (Moxie Crimefighter and Zolten Penn) will probably never be out-named.
Leann Real promised her avid sports fan husband that if they had a son he'd get to pick the name. ESPN Montana Real was born this week at Biloxi Regional Medical Center.
Husband Rusty chose ESPN (pronounced Espen) after the sports network and Montana after football legend Joe Montana.
The youngster isn't alone. Three others were cited in a 2005 Web site story about the network's 25th anniversary: Espn Malachi McCall and Espn Curiel, both of Texas, and Espn Blondeel of Michigan.

In other news, you should read the Platelets blog. It's supposed to be a band, but mostly it's just an amusing, albeit rarely-updated, blog.
